Is it Mother's Day?

For those of you who don't know me or my family well, this may be a shocker for you...my older sister has just adopted her 11th child. Now, for many people 11 seems like A LOT of kids. I think for people with 11 kids, 11 seems like a lot. But for those of you who know my sister it may not surprise you. She seems to have it all together and completely under control. My theory on that is that she was born to be a mother. From as early as I can remember, I looked upon her as a mentor, a role model, a parent of sorts. And from our teenage years on she took the opportunity to "mother" me often, perhaps because I was a bit unruly. So when she married young I don't think anyone was shocked or surprised, and when she at last had her first darling baby, everyone was thrilled for her. It was what she was meant to do; a mother is who she was meant to be. So I congratulate her on her newest baby and congratulate him on his newest family.
And on the other end of the spectrum, my next-door neighbor just had her first baby. She has had a rough go of it with fertility issues and miscarriages, so to have this big, healthy baby in her home is a very nice blessing indeed.
It truly is a physical miracle that any of us are born. I think anyone who has been part of or studied well the process of gestation and birth would agree that only God could do something so amazing. And that being entrusted with the care of a child is such an honor. That God has trusted me to birth and raise two children tells me He must think quite highly of me. I am grateful to be a mother. I am grateful to my own wonderful mother. And I stand in awe of the many mothers I know, those with children as well as those without, who parent well and pray hard for help in doing so. What an amazing group of women we are!

Michi, you truly are a great MOTHER, No one has the patience you have, or the ability to think on your feet to find just the right comment or answer for a sticky situation. I am sooooooo greatful to be your MOM. Nothing in this life of here after will give me as much joy and satisfaction (and sometimes frustration) as being a MOM I totally agree with you that your older sister/mom is a great example to us all. Love MOM

He comments with an evil laugh. Who is laughing now as he sweeps the kitchen floor and does the dishes. =)
