My son just threw up all over in his bed and again in the shower. Does it make me a bad mom to hope my son has food poisoning? My point is that food poisoning is not contagious, whereas the flu is. I don't want to end up with a house full of vomiters, so I'm rooting for food poisoning. That doesn't last as long, right???

So which one is it and how is he doing? My doc gave me the fail proof way to make sure they don't get everone else sick and to make sure they don't vomit again. After they have purged completely, send them back to bed to sleep it off and don't give any food or drink for 4-6 hours. This gives the stomach time to rest (works great for toddlers too). Then introduce a cracker or a bit of gatorade and wait 20 minutes. If no vomit, try a bit more after 20 minutes. Keep going until they have a full appetite back. It has worked every time for my family and stomach flus have never lasted more than 24 hours.
