I hear parents lie to their kids all the time.
They lie to keep things the way they want them to be.
"Santa will only bring you presents if you are good."
Parents lie because they don't want to be bothered or annoyed.
"Mommy needs you to stop singing so I won't get in a car wreck."
Sometimes they lie because they think they are protecting them from inevitable danger.
"If you let go of my hand, someone will steal you and I'll never see you again."
Often it's because they don't feel like the kids can handle the truth.
"Rover can't live with us anymore, but he's going to live on a farm where he can run and play."
I lie to my kids because I think it's funny.
"His eyebrow is pierced because they stood back too far with the piercing gun and missed his ear."
