It's a bit of a blessing and a curse to live a street away from an Arby's. Sometimes it's nice to send my kids for sandwiches when I don't feel like cooking. On the other hand, I've become very fond of their chocolate turnovers.
Tonight, I stopped to get my son a sandwich and myself a turnover. My conversation went like this:
Arby's employee: Welcome to Arby's, may I take your order?
Me: I'd like a regular roast beef sandwich and a chocolate turnover please.
AE: I'm sorry, we are all out of chocolate turnovers.
Me: All out? Seriously?
AE: Yes, please don't be mad.
Me: Do you have cherry or apple?
AE: No, we're all out of all the turnovers. So sorry. I hope this doesn't damage our relationship. Can we still be friends?
Me: Oh, maaaaaannn. OK then, just the sandwich.
AE: Actually, if you are willing to wait, we can have a chocolate turnover for you in 2 minutes....
Me: OK, I'll wait for two minutes.
AE: Good! That will give us more quality time at the window. Your total is $4.29.
I pull around to the window thinking, "I know I come here more often than I should, but really, does this guy know me?"
No, he doesn't know me. I'd never seen him before. However, now we are friends.
Me 'n' Casey.
Buds.

He didn't seriously say that about damaging the relationship, did he?
The late night dude at our local Arctic Circle always says, "Thanks for your order! And come on DOWWWN!" ala Price is Right. I love that kid.
Hey, when you need your food fix, you need it! And they know it! That's what customer service is all about!

Yes, Paige. He did.
Justin would love it if we lived that close to an Arby's - one of his favorites. I've been wanting to try the new chocolate turnover and now you've convinced me I really must make a run down there soon.
I'm glad you have a new friend. No really, I'm glad. I think this will really go places. No, really.
Didn't know about the chocolate turnovers, good thing I am gluten free!

Just read about your parents' mission call on Rachel's blog. How Exciting!!!
I think the chocolate turnovers are almost as good as a Melted Hershey's Candy bar. In fact they are the same...except you have to deal with the flaky stuff that gets in the way...just get a giant candy bar next time. Cheaper...and tastes the same.
