About a year ago I discovered Elbert Hubbard. He kept a scrapbook for his personal use, just like I do, but eventually his was published. Here are some of my favorites from him:
Never explain--your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway.
To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.
The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge.
There is quite a bit more to be gained from looking through his scrapbook.
Elbert Hubbard's Scrapbook
For quite a few years now I've carried around a blank book where I paste in articles, jot down notes or ideas, sketch things I've seen, copy down interesting lyrics I hear or anything else that hits me. My favorite piece of overheard wisdom (read: eavesdropping) was this:
"In a concert or in church, yes, but never in a movie theater!"
I've been decyphering that one for years.

I'm glad you're adding entries again. I love your point of view.
Let's see, what would be approprate for a concert or church but not in a movie theater?......Clapping? Not really. Nursing a baby? Don't think so. Making out? Probably frowned upon. Talking on a cell phone? Equally rude. Cleaning your sunglasses? Now there's an option. Eating junior mints and popcorn? Oh, I guess that's the other way around. That's one that I think we should try to introduce at church. I think sacrament meeting would be a lot more enjoyable with a bucket of popcorn and some candy. That's what the large church bag is for, I guess. I know! REading! You could read in church, you could read in a concert, but it's too dark in a theater, right? Other than that, I'm kind of stumped.
Either Amber or Tim mentioned singing--possible.
