Snips and Snails...

I'm starting to really enjoy this blogging thing. I've enjoyed other people's blogs for some time now, but I'm enjoying adding posts to my own blogs, mostly because of the comments I receive on my entries. Among recent favorites are the suggestion Paige had for popcorn and Junior Mints at church.

After a chat with my sister Rachel last night (who was celebrating being finished with a difficult wedding by having a gyro-fest), I've decided to post a list of things I have found in my sons' pants pockets. Both of them have cargo-type pants with tons of pockets, and you wouldn't believe what I have found while getting clothes ready to wash:

Dice
plastic spoon/fork ("spork")
gum in the wrapper
gum wrappers
gum already chewed, not in the wrapper
marbles
screws
"fortune teller" folded paper game
coins (sometimes foreign)
magnets
pencil sharpened right down to the metal eraser holder
eraser pieces
golf tee
cafeteria straw with two purple beads strung on it
metal washer
zipper pull attached to broken zipper head
hotel key card from Victoria, BC
folded newspaper clipping with a large paperclip on it
Lego light sabers
surgical clamp(?!)
digital recorder
links from a dog chain
the face of a broken cement garden gnome
highlighter pen
dreidel
pocket knife
rocks

Remember that nursery rhyme that goes "Snips and Snails and Puppy dog's tails"? I always wondered what "snips" were--maybe thats olde English for "Miscellaneous pocket items."

Love it! And recognize it! Yesterday was the last day of school, so it was really "empty all the contents of your tote tray into your backpack without any thought of whether or not it is trash" day. I found 2 rubber balls, about 200 paper clips (I think Dorothy may have an "issue", crayons in various stages of use and misuse, notes home from FEBRUARY, bits of paper from various art projects, coupons, rocks, a Sponge Bob watch I've never seen before, half eaten granola bars, etc. I should have just emptied them over the trash!

Any money that comes through the wash are mine. Game boy games should also be mine, if they come through the wash. I just try to avoid the laundry all together.
