Something scary; Something fun

Chester and the boys visited his aunt down in Oregon yesterday.
To get the details, visit:
Something to Crow About
Apparently the reporter thought he said his name was "Justin"--I mean, only old Southern men are named Chester, right? We now proudly display a green and gold trophy with a rooster on the top and a plackard that reads: National Human Crow; 2005 Rooster Crow

Chester also wrote a bit about his swimming experience in the Rogue River. He's vowed to use life jackets from now on.

respect for the river

almost killed jesse and myself today in the rogue river
it was scary
went swimming in a big, shallow eddy
thought it would be fun to go away from the upstream current with him on my back
toward the downstream
and just float for a bit downstream, it wasn't too deep
then the currents got swirling
yikes !!
and he can't swim
so he's on my shoulders hanging on
it got deep
i started to panic and was having trouble keeping my head up
i was wearing flip-flops because of the rocks and was having trouble kicking
i finally just kicked them off and started swimming really hard back to shore

rick and sam didn’t know, they were a little ways off
part of what was scary too, no one else was noticing and coming to help
just michael - and he was in it with us
he's a good swimmer though
he made it back to the rocks and then grabbed jesse
as i was trying to keep from getting pushed under up against a rock.
jesse freaked out big time
he took in some water and panicked pretty good

michael got a hold on jesse, jesse got up on the rock gasping
i held on tight to the rock beneath he surface – scrambling for a footing
telling jesse to be calm and breathe
i let go of the rock that I thought would save me and was just pulling me under
i swam hard and got to the shore
i couldn’t get us back to the car and away from the river fast enough

Congratulations to Chet, and I'm certainly glad you are a good swimmer. Life jackets, life jackets, life jackets!

Michelle, were you mad or relived when you heard this story?

So happy everyone is okay. I'm glad that "Justin" found his calling in life!

I always knew Chet had something to crow about that would amount to something. Even if it is a trophy. Way to go!
