Help! It's raining and I can't return my cart!
I never ask for help taking out my groceries. I usually have a munchkin with me to help out or I figure it's not out of my physical realm to unload the groceries myself. However, today at the grocery store, it was unusually quiet (I didn't even have to wait in a line) so when the 20-something cashier asked if I would like help out with my groceries, I said "Sure". I thought, 'I won't have to return the cart in the rain-hooray for me.' Once I answered in the affirmative to the offer of help, my young cashier called over to the customer service desk for someone to help me with my bags. A few moments later, I was escorted by a woman in her 60's to help me unload my groceries. I felt like an idiot! So I chatted with her, and when we got to the car, I grabbed each bag from her as she hoisted it out of the cart and I threw them into my car. I wished her a good day and she returned my cart in the rain. Now, I know it's her job, but *really*--I felt like a schlep.
