One thing I was determined not to do when I moved back to Utah was to make out loud comparisons between Utah and "the outside world." However, I feel the need to do so now because, for the second day in a row, my husband is drinking a gallon of Coke. Not an exaggeration--64 ounces of Coke.
So, maybe it's not "a Utah thing", but it seems like the soft drink cups are larger and more easily spotted. Every time I fill up my tank I see 95% of the customers walking out with a fountain drink. On the road, I see large, usually red, cups in the hands of drivers, slurping down between phone calls and putting on make-up.
I'm used to the Northwest where there's a Starbucks mug in everybody's hand. And down South, it was a cigarette or a wad of chew. I guess as you move about the country the "drug of choice" changes. It's a regional thing.

My poison: Dr. Pepper- It's the breakfast of champions
If only Dr. Pepper could come in an IV form, you wouldn't have to see us with our "red cups". But then, I don't think I would enjoy it as much.
P.S. 64oz is only a half gallon.
After I entered the 64 oz. I realized it was only half a gallon. But then he got a refill, so technically he did drink a gallon.
