I'm usually the person who boos at people listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I cringe as I see the grocery stores remove Halloween goodies just to stack the shelves full of Christmas trappings on November 1st. You'll usually hear me saying "Have we Americans forgotten Thanksgiving? It's OUR holiday! We made it up! Are we skipping it and going from Halloween directly to Christmas?"
Not this year.
Thanksgiving at my house this year is going to be very low key. And because I'm not in retail or decorating this year, I am really looking forward to Christmas coming. Last year I realized how little time there is between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and how difficult it can be to capture the true spirit of Christmas. So this year I'm starting early on the Christmas festivities. I want to jam pack it all in before it's over.

Just think Michelle- this year our hands will be sap-free and our sweater arms clear of poinsettia milk! And Christmas Eve can be our day- not spent trying to pawn off mostly dead and very picked over flowers to last minute shoppers! It's a beautiful thing!
I have again planned toooooo much to finish before the BIG DAY. I keep forgetting that the real meaning of Christmas is not how tired and worn out I can get by then. Kim has told me to cool it and realize that anything anybody wants they can buy for themselves and probably will. SO I think I will cross off some of those useless items I used to think were so important. Thanks for reminding me. Love MOM P.S. I have also learned that Costco can make better pies than I can so why not take advantage of that.
For someone who decided to just not worry about things (mom) she sure pulled off an AWESOME Christmas (at the party) and I know the spread on Christmas day will be great too. That's just mom--she does it all up and does it all up real good! Love you mom!
